My Sons Room

I thought I would put up this post as I have recently done my sons bedroom who is almost three. I did his room on a budget as we are currently doing up other rooms in our home. It goes to show you do not have to spend a fortune when doing up your home. I also think three is a nice age to do their room from a nursery to a toddler toom. As you can see Elijah loves pirates!

I got both the bunting and the accessories for the pirate theme from The Range together it was less than £10. The walls are painted in Homebase own blue paint, I really like that its not a dark blue. As I think children bedrooms should be calm shades.

The matching bedding and curtains are from Debenhams they match perfectly with paint. My son is soon going into a toddler bed so I got toddler bedding instead of the cot bed set.

I needed to take his rocking chair so that my baby had it for feeding. So we thought this bean bag was fun and two of us can fit on this.  Its from Argos £22 and works so well I find. The book shelfs are £14,99 from a website called the book company they are much more on other sites.

This tidy was a gift from my sister I think you will find them online. We use this for storing so many things and it does not take up alot of room which is great.

I personally did not see point of getting a tiny toddler wardrobe as they are so small with not much space. This one was mine as a teenager and he can keep for many years possibly into his teens! It suits the room and I find larger ones are a better investment. Make sure they secure or sturdy like this.

To match the pirate theme in my toddlers room I also got him this pirate beach towel from Tesco for £6. The handy thing about it is that it dries alot quicker than a normal towel!

My Hallway

Hallway Design My Hallway was very dark when we brought this house two years ago there was no natural light. This was because the front door had no glass or window and the walls were dark in colour. I went for pale grey with a blue undertone this makes the grey paint warmer. Having tiles on the floor means it can be a little cold so I did not want a cool tone of grey. I was going to use Farrow and Balls Elephants Breathe but I found this to be very dark. Although other Farrow and Ball colours I love such as Pale Powder.ere also a dark colour.  The first thing we did was change the door to one which has glass. It is enough to let the light in but still provides us with privacy.  Then we painted the stairs white as they were a very dark brown instantly this made the room feel more modern and brighter. The door handles were all gold and looked very dated and did no longer matched the grey on the walls. So we got these iconic door handles which ...

How Painting Furniture Transformed My Home

By painting  some items in the home you can really transform the way that they look and bring an old pice of furniture a new life! Above I have used Crown Antique Cream to change and transform this dresser. I first started painting my garden furniture as I wanted to brighten up the garden and the table and chairs were looking quite tired. We do not get much sun here in England so its nice to add some extra colour with this paint. I did two coats of this colour by Cuprinol in Coastal Mist. Im so happy with the colour it feels very beauty and has really made the furniture look more polished. You may need to sand the wood first I did not have too. Then I wanted to paint the metal chairs and table in the garden as they were green but I wanted them to go back to white. This involved lots of sanding down then two coats of this paint below by Hammerite which I find is the best for metal. A few weeks ago I was looking for a shoe cupboard to make are ...

My Bathroom Nightime Product Routine

Before I share a blog post on my bathroom I thought I would share a post on my current product nightime routine. In the morning I do not have as much time so at night is when I like to properly care for my skin which is a dry skin type. The condition is sensitive this happened after having my two sons, my whole skincare range had to change after pregnancy. I like to use a cream cleanser that is very light in texture as if the cleanser is too thick in texture I do not feel clean. The foaming cleansers are good for the morning but I am a dry skin type so I don't really get on with these.  Next I use a toner and you should not use a toner which contains alcohol as this is very ageing for the skin. So due to all this I am loving the Clarins cleanser and toner, the toner is Cammomile and very gentle toner even for very sensitive skin. The cleansing milk is light in texture and great for a dry and sensitive skin. It feels very soothing on the skin. I apply these with cotton wool, ...
